Print
Applies to:

DigiCart E and EX series audio systems

Symptom:

An NFS server is required in order to transfer files over a network to a DigiCart E system.

Possible Reason(s):

Having an NFS server on the same network as a DigiCart E / EX system, allows for transferring files to and from the DigiCart as well as playing files directly from the NFS share.

Solution(s):

There are multiple types of NFS servers available for use. Depending on your available equipment and use case, one type of NFS server may be better than another.
Although a recommendation can not be made, most users find that the shareware application haneWIN NFS server is easy to setup and use.

General Notes:
  • Refer to the NFS section in the latest DigiCart EX manual for general information.
  • Refer to the articles and instructions in the links below for more specific information.
  • When installing an NFS server on a Windows system, common issues are
    • Windows Firewall blocking NFS ports.  Temporarily turning off the firewall during testing may be necessary.
    • Windows permissions are not correct.  Everyone, Read / Write permissions are required for the NFS server to work with a DigiCart.   It may be necessary to set this on the shared folder, NFS shared folder and / or in the windows security permissions of the folder.
    • Windows updates can override previous settings.  This has been the case with haneWIN installs where the NFS server stops working after a Windows Update.  Uninstalling and Reinstalling the haneWIN NFS server resolves this.
