Applies to:
Original DigiCart units as well as DigiCart II and II Plus systems
Symptom:
System displays flashing cursor in the display when booting.
Possible Reason(s):
The condition is generally related to internal battery voltage being low or absent.
Solution(s):
WARNING: Hazardous Voltage. Contact may cause electric shock, burn, or death. Disconnect all power from the unit prior to attempting any servicing of the equipment. Service should only be performed by qualified personnel.
As a temporary workaround, remove the CPU board, and remove the silver lithium cell (about the size of a quarter) and reinstall the board after waiting a minute or so.
Upon power up the unit should display “BATTERY BACKUP ERROR – PRESS ANY KEY” and then complete initialization. The unit can operate in this state, however, it will not remember setup parameters, but recording, preset and stack programming are unaffected as they are saved to disk.
Replace the internal battery with the same type and voltage ratings to resolve the issue.
