WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS INFORMATION ON TESTING POWER SUPPLIES. POWER SUPPLIES CONTAINED IN THIS UNIT HAVE BOTH LINE VOLTAGE AND HIGH VOLTAGE. CONDUCTING TESTING WITH POWER CONNECTED SHOULD ONLY BE DONE BY A TRAINED PROFESSIONAL. SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH MAY OCCUR IF TESTING IS CONDUCTED INCORRECTLY.
Digicart E and EX series products.
Symptom:
When booted, the DigiCart E/EX shows a horizontal line across the LCD display and nothing else.
Possible Reason(s):
The Linear Power supply is not functioning. This could be a failed power supply or simply the fuse on the power supply has failed.
Solution(s):
CAUTION!: Make certain that the main power to the unit has been completely removed prior to attempting any repair.
CAUTION!: Make certain to use ESD precautions when working on internal components within the device.
Remove the top cover on the DigiCart and locate the blue rubber cap on the linear power supply. Remove the blue rubber cap and remove the fuse. If the fuse if visibly damaged or shows no continuity using a multimeter, the fuse will need replaced. Make sure to replace with the fuse with the same type and value originally in the unit.
(For reference, if the supply is set for 115V, it should use a 125mA, delayed fuse. If the supply is set for 230V, a 100mA, delayed fuse should be used.)
CAUTION!: Failure to replace the fuse with the proper value may result in damage to the equipment or personal injury. Please contact support if further assistance is required.
Once the fuse is replaced, reinstall the blue rubber cap over the fuse and install the top cover.
If the fuse is ok, proceeded to checking the power supply voltages per the specific knowledgebase article.
