Digicart E / EX models

Symptom:

When booting up the system, the message “Loading Hot Keys” appears on the screen and the system halts at that point.

Possible Reason(s):

Most likely, the data on the hard drive is corrupted and not allowing the system to read the information it needs to complete the process. In some cases it is just corruption of the Hot-Key portion which may be cleared.

Solution(s):
  1. It may be possible to clear the hot keys.   To do this, reboot the system and just prior to the loading hot keys, press the Utility button.   Once in the utility menu, scroll to Clear Hotkey and begin clearing all of the hot key entries. The timing of pressing the Utility button is critical. It may take multiple attempts of powering off the system and trying to time the Utility button press.
  2. In many cases the corruption is too significant.  Formatting the hard drive is the only option.  To do this, reboot the system and just prior to the loading hot keys, press the Utility button.   Once in the utility menu, scroll to Format Drive, select the internal hard drive and follow the prompts to complete the format.

Note that sometimes the unit becomes stuck before the Utility key can be pressed.  In some cases, having a SD card or Zip disk in the system will slow the system down enough to be able to execute the Utility function prior to the unit becoming stuck.
