Applies to:

All Image Server, Maxx and TSS video servers.

Symptom:

General setup and connection issues or unable to access the system via Remote Workstation or FTP.

Possible Reason(s):

Firewalls and certain routing switches may block the necessary network ports needed for the system to pass network information.

Solution(s):

For security reasons, a secure tunnel, such as a VPN connection, it highly recommended when remotely accessing the server.  If a secure connection is not possible, the following ports may be opened in the firewall to allow connection to the server.

The article applies to all Image Server, Maxx and TSS video servers.

For security reasons, a secure tunnel, such as a VPN connection, it highly recommended when remotely accessing the server.  If a secure connection is not possible, the following ports may be opened in the firewall to allow connection to the server.

Remote GUI — TCP Protocol – Open ports 10010, 10014, 10016 (probably only 10010 needs to be left open).

FTP — TCP Protocol – Open port 21 (This is not required for Remote GUI, only File Transfer).

Note: Older servers (Image Server & Maxx) utilize an anonymous FTP connection which cannot be changed.   This poses a security risk and therefore this method should not be utilized for external connection. A VPN or other security measures should be taken to mitigate unauthorized access.
