Applies to:
TSS Generation 2 and 3 series video servers
Symptom:
One of the internal hard drives shows as “Removed” and will not automatically rebuild even after rebooting the system.
Possible Reason(s):
The RAID no longer is properly detecting the drive or the drive has failed.
Solution(s):
Option 1
- Reboot the server.
- At the prompt, press CTRL-i to enter the Intel RAID utility.
- “”Degraded” volume and disk available for rebuilding detected. Selecting a disk initiates a rebuild. Rebuild completes in operating system” message appears.
- Press enter to accept.
- Select exit to reboot.
- Rebuild should start when server boots to OS.
Option 2
- Shut down the server.
- Verify the cabling is properly connected to the drive. Reseat all cable connections.
- Power the server on and in the post messages make sure the drive is now showing.
Option 3
- Shut down the server.
- Replace the failed drive.
- Power on the server and allow it to boot into the main interface.
- If the new drive does not automatically start to rebuild, refer to option 1.
