When troubleshooting, locating replacement parts or applying software upgrades to a system, it is important to properly identify the system model, serial number and generation. Use of the incorrect software update could cause the system to becoming non functional.

Symptom:

NA

Possible Reason(s):

NA

Solution(s):
1st Generation (Gen1) Systems

Applies to: TSS-3100 and TSS-4000
Identification: These systems have serial numbers beginning with “TS”. They are built on a full rack length chassis and have a separate DVI video card.

2nd Generation (Gen2) Systems

Applies to: TSS-2100/2200/3100, TSS-4000/4200/4400 as well as the TSS-2470/2470II and TSS-1080P

Identification: There were multiple hardware configurations in this generation, most can be easily identified by the serial number. However, there are similarities to the Gen3 systems.

For TSS-2100/2200/3100, the serial number begins with “TMx”, where “x” is a digit. They were built on a very short chassis often referred in documentation as the “mini”.
For TSS-4000/4200/4400, the serial number begins with “T4x”, where “x” is a digit. They can be physically identified by the slightly longer chassis often referred to as the “mid”.
For TSS-2470/2470II, the serial number begins with “MDx”, where “x” is a digit. They were built on a very short chassis often referred in documentation as the “mini”.
For TSS-1080P, the serial number begins with “T4x”, where “x” is a digit. They can be physically identified by the slightly longer chassis often referred to as the “mid”.

3rd Generation (Gen3) Systems

Applies to: All TSS models

Identification: All TSS systems in this generation were consolidated into a single platform. They were built on a small chassis frame and have serial numbers beginning with “TMC” or “MDC”.
