SD 2470 Time Delay Server Flashing GUI on Boot

Standard Definition 2470 Time Delay video server

Symptom:

Upon booting an SD 2470 Time Delay system, the system boots but the GUI continues to flash and then shows a blank desktop.

Possible Reason(s):

This issue is generally caused by a corrupted software setting. 

Solution(s):

In some cases, preforming a software update using the software installation CD may resolve the issue.   

If a software update does not resolve the issue or is not possible to conduct a software update, the following may be attempted.

  1. Close the GUI by clicking on the red close box in the upper right of the GUI window.  The Start bar will remain.
  2. Make sure the NumLock light is OFF. Open a Terminal window by pressing Control+Shift+F12 briefly.  (If multiple windows open you can ignore this and just choose one to use.)
  3. Type the following commands (where <Enter> means press the Enter key on the keyboard.
    • cd <Enter>
    • cd vr <Enter>
    • rm tdmode <Enter>
  4. Go to the Start Button and select Shutdown>Full Restart.
  5. When the unit reboots the GUI should open normally.
  6. If this is a PAL unit, it may now indicate that it is NTSC:
  7. Switch to factory mode with Control+Shift+F7
  8. Preform a Quick Restart from the Start menu.
  9. Preform a Quick Restart again to get the proper vr window.
  10. Click on vr window button in the task bar at bottom of screen, the terminal window with the warning message should appear.
  11. In the vr window type
    • n info playlist <Enter>
  12. Preform a Quick Restart; unit should come up in PAL mode.
  13. In the vr window:
    • n info 360tmdly <Enter>
  14. Click on the GUI somewhere, then Control+Shift+F7 and Quick Restart to return to production TimeDelay mode.
