Warnings and Notices:

WARNING: Updating the OS will generally wipe all data from the system.   Please make sure to backup all content and settings prior to preforming a full OS update.
CAUTION: Follow all of the instructions as listed.  Failure to do so may result in the system becoming unusable.

Symptom:

OS requires updating or reinstalled.

Possible Reason(s):

The system requires the OS be updated to allow additional features.
The system has failed in a way that requires the OS to be reinstalled.

Solution(s):

4.1 WARNING: Failure to follow these instructions may result in the system being inoperable.
4.2. WARNING: DO NOT power off or unplug power from the unit while performing this update.
4.3. WARNING: This process may clear all content and settings from the system. Please make sure all content and settings are backed up prior to proceeding.
4.4. WARNING: It is strongly suggested that after the update, the files be deleted from the USB key used to prevent accidental use as this would wipe the system again.
4.5. NOTE: This process can take around 15 minutes to complete. Please allow ample downtime.
4.6. Download the latest OS install archive file as instructed by 360 Systems support.
4.7. Extract the files within the archive to the root of a blank USB key. There should be two files:
360_image.img.gz and 360upgrade.scr.
NOTE: It is best to use the USB key that shipped with the system for these updates but in general a USB key of 2GB or larger should work.
4.8. Power off the system and insert the USB drive with the update into one of the USB ports on the rear of the system.4.9. Power on the system.
NOTE: If the splash screen disappears without the update starting, unplug power and plug the power in again. It may require a couple of attempts depending on the state of the system and USB key used.
4.10. When the update begins, text will appear on the screen with the appropriate warnings and additional information.
4.11. When the first stage completes, the system will halt after a five second countdown. The screen should look as follows.
4.12. Unplug power from the system and remove the USB Key.
4.13. WARNING: DO NOT use this USB key for anything else. Accidentally plugging the USB key into the system and rebooting will install the OS again and delete everything. 4.14. Power on the system to allow it to complete the process.
4.15. NOTE: The system may appear stalled during parts of the process. Please be patient and allow the system time to complete the processes. The system will reboot a couple of times during this process.
4.16. The process will be completed and return to an operational home screen at the end.
4.17. If this stage of the process takes longer than 10 minutes, please remove power from the unit, wait 10 seconds and then plug the power back in. The process should continue on its own until completion.
4.18. Restore any content and databases as required. NOTE: Certain OS / Software versions require newer databases. It is advised not to install system databases from previous versions.
