Applies to:
MAXX HD series video servers
Symptom:
Upon booting up the system, the system fails to launch and ended up at a prompt in the EFI Shell screen.
Possible Reason(s):
- The BIOS boot order is incorrect and the 3ware storage controller needs to be added back into the list.
- An error has occurred within the RAID array causing the system to no longer see the RAID as a boot device.
- In rare cases, a failed RAID card can cause the same situation.
Solution(s):
Disable Quiet Boot
- Power on the Server.
- Enter BIOS setup by pressing [F2] at prompt.
- Change Quiet Boot to [Disabled].
- Navigate to Boot Options. Verify that EFI Shell is at the top of the order, and that there is no entry for 3ware Storage Controller. If there is, then select Boot Option #1 and set to 3ware Storage Controller. The server should now boot normally. If it does not either the RAID array needs rebuilt or the software needs reinstalled. Proceed to the next steps to see if there are drive errors listed. If no drive errors and the RAID appears healthy, skip to the Software installation part.
- Press [F10] to save changes.
- Server will re-boot.
